Pumpkin Carving

We carved our pumpkin yesterday and Grant was very into it this year.

He had definite design ideas....

The "pumpkin slop" as Grant referred to it. :)

The girls had a good time playing and maybe eating a little of the pumpkin slop. The one on the left is Riley, Jenn and Josh's dog.

And here is our pumpkin for 2011 that Grant named "Bogart" or "Bogie" for short. :)

And Mr. Blake was there too, of course. :) Here we are at 27 weeks....looking an awful lot like that pumpkin! :)

Happy Halloween! We'll be trick-or-treating tonight in our fireman costume!

Happy Birthday!

Well, we had a rather exciting weekend for more reasons than one, but the biggest, most unexpected excitement happened to my cousin Jenn and her husband Josh around 4:28pm on Friday, October 28th.....

Introducing Baby Boy Terry born at 31 weeks and weighing in at 3 lbs. 10 oz.

Complete with a "Mimi toe" insuring he is indeed part of our family. (My grandmother, Mimi, has a big toe that sticks up and so we say anytime someone sticks up their big toe that it's a "Mimi toe".)

Baby Terry doesn't have a name just yet but his mom and dad are working on that and hope to have one by the end of the day today.

He is so tiny and soft with that preemie fuzz all over him. He's holding his own in the NICU and they are hopeful he will come off the vent very soon.

Mom is recovering from her c-section and has been a real trooper through this unexpected, early delivery.

We are all so grateful that Baby Terry made it here safely and that the doctors expect him to go home and be just fine in 5-6 weeks.

Love you, Jenn and Josh! Welcome to parenthood....the rollercoaster never stops! :)

Costume Parade 2011

Yesterday was the annual costume parade at Grant's school. The kids are always so cute in their costumes although I think some of them feel like it's some kind of weird torturing strategy invented by us adults. There were a few tears in the parade though thankfully not from Grant.

First we saw our sweet little friend, Griffin, in his cow costume. He even "moo-ed" on command. :)

And then my friend from college, Jenn, and her darling little girl, Lizzie. So adorable!

And then came fireman Grant! Getting a little help with his fire helmet.

He's been wearing his "costume" for weeks now and I love that he's at an age where he plays "dress-up" so Halloween costumes get worn more than once! :)

Game Time

Allow me to give you a little glimpse into the post-dinner, pre-bedtime routine at our house most evenings.

That would be Daddy in his hockey helmet and gloves and Grant in his Cowboys jersey and pants, Bears helmet, and fireman gloves and boots. In case you're confused, they are playing football. :)

And at some point poor Kota just can't help herself and has to try to get into the game.

Boys.....I just love 'em!

Pumpkin Pickin'

On Sunday we went to the pumpkin patch on a mission. It was time to pick out the pumpkin we will carve next weekend before Halloween. And mama wanted to get at least one pic of her pumpkin in the pumpkins. That's always easier said than done though....

Headed to pay for our "perfect pumpkin"....

Stay tuned to see the post carving pic next week! :)

Uncle Craig

Uncle Craig was in town this past weekend for his 10 year high school reunion. We all had a good time catching up with him and Grant especially enjoyed his time with fun Uncle Craig. :)

We visited with Mamaw and Poppy-Ray...

Grant loves playing with the old cars that used to be my dad's and his brother's.

And it was a great day to play outside on their big front porch!

The men folk....

Running wind sprints with Uncle Craig.....
