Only In Texas
Memories
Here was my view as I was packing Grant's lunch for school today....

I try to take these "mental snapshots" during the day just to try to remember the mundane day to day stuff that someday will turn into precious memories. Someday when he comes home from school and shuts himself in his room listening to terrible music at a volume that would make most humans deaf. Someday when he goes off to college and leaves us behind. Someday when he is grown and married with a little one of his own. It's then that I hope I'll have a huge file of "mental snapshots" like my view from the kitchen today.

LOVE
There was lots of love to be shared around here today! I fixed my boys a "heartfelt" breakfast....

And then we headed off to church followed by lunch celebrating our favorite Mimi's birthday.....

Which was made extra special by the fact that my aunt and my cousin, Sean, flew in town for the occasion...

And it's never a real celebration without cake, am I right?!?! And it's even better if said cake has a pink, paper flower on top!

So much fun being together! We were just missing our Gigi who is off cruising with all of her high school girlfriends! Lucky duck! And poor Aunt Jessie who was home with a stomach bug. Yuck! Feel better soon Aunt Jess!
And now I must go because my big guy (that would be Jason, not Grant) is making me dinner tonight for Valentine's day and I have to go take a peak at what he's working on in the kitchen. Love that guy. :) Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

HUGE SNoW DaY
So we got Grant up at 6:30 this morning to go play in the AMAZING snow before Jason had to leave for work.

I'm not sure the little man was all too thrilled with the cold, wet stuff this early in the morning...

The view from our front windows about 8:00 this morning....still snowing....

And a shot of our front door just because I like my little dollar store heart wreaths in honor of Valentine's Day. :)

Um yes, that is my hairbrush that G is holding because although he has very little hair he still likes to style it with mommy's nifty round brush.

Dakota L.O.V.E.D. the white stuff and played outside until she was shaking so much from the cold she had to come in a warm up.

A shot of our neighborhood about 2:00 this afternoon as I was leaving to go pick up Grant from school. I know, I was surprised they had school today too since people have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what to do with snow around here. I mean who owns a snow shovel? Or snow tires? Can you even buy those here?

And then daddy came home early to beat some of the traffic and get home before the slush started to ice over (which they say will happen tonight).

And of course daddy had to run through the snow with Dakota because she was the kid who really loved the snow the most. Grant kept wanting to go inside. Smart kid, that one.

It is still snowing right now and hasn't stopped since like 3:00 in the morning. We've gotten about 7.5 inches so far today and it's not supposed to stop for several more hours. I have never seen anything like it here. If I didn't know better I'd say we'd moved our house to Colorado....which would be cool since Aunt Jill and Uncle Bud are there. :)

Guac....
...because honestly, what could be better to eat before bed than daddy's homemade guac?!?!

And on an unrelated note, a VERY BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to "Auntie" Em!!! Wishing we could be here to celebrate with a Ninfarita! We love you!

Blessings for Griffin
We had such a neat blessing shower for our friends, Ryan and Melissa, who are expecting baby Griffin in April. Both of their families came to our house for the evening and just shared such special hopes and prayers for this new little life and new generation for both families. It was a really special time and we were so honored to be a part of it.

A Boy and His Bottle
I've said it before and just so you know I'm really not kidding, this boy L-O-V-E-S his bottle. And yes, I've read the books that say you should get rid of the bottle around 12 months and yes I know he is closing in on 16 months, but what's the harm? As I've also said, "Who goes to college still drinking from a bottle?!" He'll be fine, right? :) In all fairness, the kid does use a sippy cup and a straw cup for water so it's not like he CAN'T drink from another type of cup.

He also has some seriously awesome bed-head baby fuzz on that cutie little head of his. Oh for the love, I just wanna kiss that little head all the time.
