New Guest Room

So after rearranging Grant's room and play room we converted the small front room in our house into a little guest bedroom. It's small, but functional and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

Moving Out?!?!

So I know I blogged about Grant climbing out of his crib and having to take the railing off to make the crib a toddler bed. That was all well and good but then I decided to rearrange the house a bit and make the room down the hall from Grant's nursery into a play room. I had a twin bed we were storing so I got that out and set it up in the play room thinking one day Grant would move in there if and when we ever have another baby (Big IF right now people. I am NOT expecting.)

Well, when Grant saw that finished play room with the bed in it he would have none of sleeping back in his nursery. I mean why would you want to sleep in your room when this was available down the hall......





So he's been sleeping in that big bed all by himself now for about 6 weeks. I don't even have a rail for it but he hasn't fallen out yet.

I've decided it's a good thing I didn't realize that what I was doing was moving my baby out of his nursery and into his big boy room. I might have been a bit more sad about it but I didn't know that's what was happening until it was already done! Haha!

Easter Recap

We got up early on Sunday, made some coffee, had a little breakfast and let Grant unpack his basket from the Easter bunny. ;) We then tried to get a family picture out front before we left for church but.....


...someone was a little too busy fighting fires to pose with us.

So this was the best we could do. :)






After church we headed over to Jenn and Josh's house for a little burger grillin' and good times with my Aunt Janice in town.

The Easter bunny had brought Grant a wheel barrow full of goodies to Gigi's house which she delivered. Much fun pushing that thing around. Don't worry, he did not fall into the pool. I know it looks scary. :)

Mimi supervised all the festivities from the comfort of her deck chair.

Josh was our manly grill man!

And Grant, ever obsessed with wheels, had to get down for a closer look at his new train to watch the "wheels turnin.'"

And, truly, we can no longer have a family gathering without the famous "Nothing Bundt Cakes" cake. Behold the goodness....

Mowing with Daddy

I will admit that once we are into full-on Texas summer we hire some very nice guys to come take care of our lawn. Which is absolutely worth every penny when it's 101 degrees outside. But the downside of that is missing moments like these....

He is RISEN!

Matthew 28:1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me." (NIV)

All Things Easter

Grant had his annual school Easter egg hunt this past Thursday but unfortunately the weather did not understand that rain does not go well with egg hunts. So, it was moved inside and took approximately 2.5 seconds for the kids to find all the eggs, put them in their baskets and then run off to play. Hilarious!





And we did a little Easter egg dyeing. Did you know there are NINE colors in the Paas kits now? I feel like that's waaaayyyy more than when I was a kid.



And lest you think we have forgotten about the true reason for Easter, rest assured there has been lots of teaching going on in our house using these....


Mom used to have a homemade set of these when we were growing up and it's one of my most vivid memories of Easter celebrations at our house. Such a great way to tell the Easter story for kids (and adults) of all ages.

Anxiously awaiting resurrection Sunday tomorrow, amen?!?! :)

Good Friday

May we remember that Jesus first had to suffer and die before his glorious resurrection could occur. In hopeful sorrow we are remembering our Savior, Christ Jesus, today.

Thomas the Tank Engine

Thomas the Tank Engine was in town last weekend and while we didn't buy tickets to ride on the train we DID chase Thomas down the tracks one afternoon. :) Grant thought it was great fun to weave in and out of parking lots following Thomas while he blew his whistle. It will be one of those memories for me that will make me laugh at what I did for my kid to have a few minutes of bliss. :)
