Choo-Choo

We had quite the adventure today. We got up this morning and were trying to brainstorm ways to beat the heat. Grant and I had been at the pool several times this week and I felt like we'd probably hit our sunshine limit for the week so coming up with an alternative was a challenge.

But, we decided we'd take the train and go to lunch. Our first attempt had us lunching in Ft. Worth, but alas, just as we pulled up to the station the train for Ft. Worth was pulling out. Ummmm, plan B. The eastbound train for Dallas left in an hour so we killed a little time at the play area in the nearby mall.

This dinky thing cost $1 to make it go around and daddy was nice and put 4 quarters in. Had it just been mommy, Grant would have never known it was supposed to move. :)

We headed back to the train station and waited for the train to arrive. We were there a bit early so as to avoid the whole train-pulling-out-of-the-station-without-us fiasco we experienced an hour before.

On our way to Dallas!

We got off at Union Station downtown and ate lunch at a deli across the street. After lunch we threw a few pennies into the rather large fountain across from Union Station until I got hot enough to think about jumping in to cool off. So we opted to get back on the train and head home instead because, despite the beauty of the fountain, the water at the base looked a little disgusting. Definitely don't recommend going for a swim in there.

We had lots of fun and stayed cool on the train as we watched the backs of buildings, old truck lots, and overgrown foliage pass by. :) The little mister thought it was FAB-U-LOUS!
