My Baby is Growing Up

About 3 weeks ago I had put Grant down for a nap and was doing some reading in the kitchen when suddenly Grant walked in and said, "Hi Mommy!" To which I responded, "How did you get out of your crib?" And Grant informed me, "I crawled out the side."

And so just like that my baby is too big to sleep in his crib anymore. So, for safety's sake we took the front rail off and ta-da....

...we have a toddler bed. How did he get so big so fast?!?!

I was a little nervous that I would now have a 2 year old coming in my room at all hours of the night so we very seriously went over the rules now that he was a "big boy." Under no circumstances is he to leave his room until Mommy or Daddy come get him in the morning. If he needs us he can call for us but he is not to leave his room. And, like magic, my people-pleasing little man follows the rules, no problem. We were seriously, and pleasantly, shocked. We don't think we can ever have any more children because this one rocks and we're not sure we can get two of the same kind! :)

We did the same firm "under no circumstances" speech with our little guy at 18 months and he dutifully obeyed. He also has stayed in his true big boy bed except for once when he went wandering during nap time. It's a little unnerving to see a toddler walking around the house! I don't know how other parents manage that!:) I enjoy perusing your blog once in a while...hope you don't mind.:) Susy B.
