I'm 33 years old today and happy to be here! Can't imagine a life any more full of blessings than mine.
Since becoming a mom over 3 years ago, my birthday has taken on even more meaning. I realize a little bit more what a huge day it is for my parents. On this day, 33 years ago, my parents got a little 5 lb. baby girl and my mom almost lost her life. (Mom and I like to keep our doctors on their toes when we deliver.) But both Mom and Dad would tell you today that it was all worth it and I can understand that now that I'm a mom. I'm also very grateful to have such loving parents as to think risking one's life was worth getting me.
And one of my favorite things about my birthday are the phone calls in the morning from the people who actually remember the day you were born. My parents both called/texted first. It is, afterall, really their day to remember. And I was lucky enough to have lunch with my mom and the boys today.
Mimi called and relived the day "as if it were yesterday" she said.
90 years old and can remember the name of the doctor who delivered me.
Love her. :)
I am grateful to be able to hear from those who were there for the drama 33 years ago. I consider it a little gift from God that I am still surrounded by so many who remember March 14, 1979 at a little hospital in Austin, Texas. Makes a birthday that much more special.
So, it may be my birthday, but I think all the glory and the credit should go to my Creator and my parents. Could not do life without them....literally. Love you, Mom and Dad.
