R and R

Jason was offered a new job several weeks ago and decided to make the move to this new company. There are many great things about this new job but the one thing we are enjoying immensely right now are the 2 weeks off before he starts this new job. :)

Last week we rented a cabin out in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma and had a blast just being together as a family. The cabin was so nice with a fireplace in the living room and master bedroom, a hot tub on the balcony, and a porch swing which Grant loved. We lucked out and the weather was beautiful the whole week.

We did a lot of this....

But we found plenty of time to do a lot of hiking too...

The highlight of the trip for Grant just may have been this though....

It was a really great week. Dakota loved every minute of roaming those woods....

And I was so grateful for the time to relax and enjoy my greatest loves....

Happy New Year 2011!

New Year's started off perfectly....Dad got up early and made a Starbucks run! I sipped my peppermint mocha and watched the Rose Parade. We kept looking for Daddy and Grampa with our friends Mark and Kari but couldn't see them in all the hoopla and amazing floats!

Grant watched quite a bit of the parade from the comfort of Gips' lap. :)

Wearing our game gear.

Before the Rose Bowl started we had our traditional New Year's lunch complete with black eyed peas for good luck and some cabbage for wealth. I ate a single bite of each as neither are my favorite but hopefully it was just enough for some good luck and a little wealth in 2011. :)

Uncle Craig and Aunt Jessie came over to watch TCU win at the Rose Bowl! Grant was especially crazy over his Aunt Jessie. And poor Aunt Jessie was such a good sport even though she was feeling terrible that day.

It was a good way to start off the new year!

New Year's Eve

Jason left New Year's Eve for southern California to cheer on his Horned Frogs in the Rose Bowl so Grant and I headed to Gigi and Gips' house for the weekend. Mimi spent the weekend there too so it was one big sleep over! Mom and Dad cooked up a yummy New Year's Eve steak dinner and Mom busted out the glow sticks which Grant and Mimi love equally. :) The two of them were hysterical with those light sticks.

Grant told me, "Happy New Year, Mommy," when I put him to bed around 8pm. And then he said, "Had fun." Guess he liked the new year's festivities.

The rest of us adults toasted the new year with champagne and promptly hit the sheets. I think I was the first one in bed! :)

Happy 2011!

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning started fairly early at our house this year. There were lots of gifts to open, food to eat, and fun to be had....

After all the presents were opened, breakfast was eaten, and "Happy Birthday" was sung, we headed to Mom and Dad's for a Christmas feast followed by some friendly competition over our new favorite domino game, Mexican Train. Good times! :)
